Greening South Africas Schools
Outreach Greening
We guide participating schools through the process of developing
their own indigenous water wise gardens. Establishing an indigenous
school garden is a wonderful opportunity for involving the community
to create a greener and healthier environment. The indigenous garden
also serves as educational tool for teaching and learning.
A Greening Manual for South African Schools
The
resource pack, Greening South African Schools, is a must for all
schools. It includes an easy to follow gardening manual, as well
as ready prepared lesson unit plans. The lessons serve the outcomes
from the Revised National Curriculum and will be fun to do with
all learners from Gr. 0-9. It includes activities such as planning
a garden, exploring South Africas Biomes, organising an environmental
day and propagating plants to sell.
Obtainable from Share-Net (PO Box 394, Howick 3290 Tel (033) 330
