Kirstenbosch Photographic Competition
Following on the success of the past two years, the Kirstenbosch Branch of the Botanical Society is pleased to announce this year’s Kirstenbosch Photographic Competition starting immediately and ending in March 2016. Our sponsors, Canon and Orms have again stepped up with a very generous prize for the winning entry – a Canon EOS 5D Mk. iii worth R3500.
There will also be a monthly prize as well as added interest for those achieving top results. Our new partner, Independent and their Weekend Argus have agreed to print the top six to eight images each month. They will credit the photographer for the image.
To enter, participants need to get to Kirstenbosch to capture photographs that focus on fauna, flora and/or landscapes, which must be taken in Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden during 2015-16. Photographs may be taken with any camera or photographic device, so you can even use your smart phone to capture that winning entry.
Final images must be digital as entries may only be submitted on the website www.botsoc-kirstenbosch.org.za. Prizes will be awarded to the winning entries each month. Monthly winning images will be entered into the finals for the grand prize – the Canon EOS 5D Mk. iii. Entrants are encouraged to submit new pictures every month to increase their chance of winning.
Selected entries will be posted on BotSoc’s website as will the monthly winning entries. Selected entries will also be on display on a board at the Kirstenbosch Visitor’s Centre. A final exhibition and prize giving will take place towards the end of the year once the judges have selected the winning entries.
