WATER-WISE GARDEN

The garden was established in 1998 in a joint venture between the National Botanical
Institute (NBI) and Dept of Water Affairs and Forestry (DWAF). The project is
one of many campaigns to discourage excessive use of water in our country. Water-wise
gardening cuts down on waste, while preserving the beauty of the garden and
the natural plant diversity of an area. The water-wise garden is the latest
attraction of the Free State garden and can be visited any time of the year,
but is best during Spring and Summer. Guided tours can be arranged with through
our office.
