KOPJES/ROCKY HILLS

These natural features are separated by valleys and watercourses which flow
sporadically, the vegetation is transitional grassveld, and includes woodland
on the southern slopes of the kopjes. Succulents and bulbous plants form a fascinating
natural garden on the rocky outcrops. A climb up the kopjes for the more energetic
and able is very rewarding and need not be too strenuous as each kopje can be
tackled individually. The kopje to the east of the main dam is the steepest
and the most difficult although a pre-school child could manage it with help.
To walk all three kopjes consecutively in a leisurely way takes about 1½
hours and there are benches at scenic spots where one can stop, rest and enjoy
the beautiful view of the garden.
