Situated in a near paradise, the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens boasts the world-class Silvertree and 'European Deli-style' Fynbos restaurant.
This is a venue competent to meet the wishes of every individual and exploit the beauty of every season! On a warm, summers evening it is possible to savour a good wine or sip away at a cocktail whilst the Cape sun sets majestically over the mountain. In the winter it is possible to dine in intimate delight as the warmth from the glowing log fire pleasantly lulls your senses.
The serene ambiance experienced in this 300 seater venue which is ideal for Weddings, Bar mitzvahs,cocktail parties, dinner parties and Private functions is truly captivating, and with the backdrop of the tranquil gardens and mountain, defining memories are inevitable.
'The Fynbos', named after the uniquely South African flora, boasts a range of fresh products for picnic baskets and light lunches which are enjoyed by tour groups, nature lovers and young travellers alike.

Tea Room
Closed for renovationsThe Kirstenbosch Tea Room will be closed for 6 days from Monday 2nd June until Saturday 7th June 2008. We re-open for breakfast at 9am Sunday 8th June. See you then! |
The Kirstenbosch Tea Room was built in 2003 to replace the popular Tea Room built in 1924 and demolished 75 years later, in 1999. The old favourites like fish and chips and bangers and mash are served with contemporary flair and many new exciting dishes have been added to the extensive menu.
- Breakfasts, salads, sandwiches, soups and comfort foods, lunches and teas are served. Try their “Tea for Two” high tea!
- Everything is baked on the spot – wholewheat seed loaf, Italian bread, cakes, muffins, cinnamon buns and scones served with clotted cream.
- Order “to go” and enjoy your meal in the garden. Anything off our menu is available to take away. Now we are offering the food in a red picnic basket. A deposit of R100 is required for the basket which can be returned with all the rubbish after the food has been enjoyed in the garden.
- All the food is MSG free and only butter, extra virgin olive oil and canola oil are used
- There is something for everyone – wheat free, gluten free, sugar free, egg free, dairy free, plenty for vegetarian and a special kids menu for the children and the not so hungry adults.
- The Kirstenbosch Tea Room is fully licensed and the wine list includes a selection of popular wines.
Booking is advised on Tuesdays, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays and for large parties.
- For groups of 15-30 persons, Monday to Saturday, The Tea Room will be happy to provide a buffet.

Caffe Botanica
Situated in the Visitors' Centre at Kirstenbosch, Caffe Botanica is an excellent spot for a light lunch, coffee break or snack. It can be visited without entering the Garden.
Caffe Botanica is open daily from 08h00-017h30, but may close earlier in winter.
