Sale of indigenous plants

To encourage the use of indigenous Southern African plants in public and private gardens and to help conserve wild populations, the NBI seeks to make available for purchase a range of attractive Southern African plants. Some of these are easy to grow and some present a challenge! For advice on growing many South African plants see our plant information website www.plantzafrica.com

Most of the National Botanical Gardens have plant sales outlets which offer a range of indigenous material. Please see details under garden. These plant sales outlets often advertise special offer which are included in the What's On pages for that particular garden

Special Plant Sales
Several of the gardens also have a special plant sale once a year. Please keep an eye on our What's On pages for details. The Kirstenbosch Garden Fair, which takes place over a weekend in March each year, is a keenly awaited opportunity for both avid gardeners and those starting out, to stock up on treasures.

The Kirstenbosch Production Nursery sells plants wholesale to bona fide landscapers and nurserymen ( not to members of the public).

Seeds are sold by mail order and are the easiest way for international gardeners to acquire SA plants.
