Eastern Cape Biodiversity Education and Empowerment Programme
The Eastern Cape BEE Centre was established in 2008 and Mongezi Langa was employed as a Principal Environmental Education Officer,.
Activities at this centre revolve around Greening of the Nation which has been SANBI’s pioneer programme in the Eastern Cape. There is no National Botanical Garden nearby and therefore programmes and activities are tailored to the facilities at the Centre. There are no Garden-Based Programmes.
This Centre works very closely with six partners/ stakeholders to achieve its objectives.
The uniqueness of the situation demands innovative solutions, while upholding the SANBI identity and mandate. The long-term plan is to establish the Eastern Cape National Botanical Garden in East London.
