Background
I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Cape Town in 2005, majoring in Zoology and Genetics and Development. I have recently finished my honours degree in Zoology this year, at the same university, where I completed two research projects. I am particularly interested in using genetics to uncover facts that may otherwise be hidden; subsequently both my projects involved molecular techniques. The first project looked at sex ratio manipulation of Karoo Scrub Robins, while the second project investigated the population genetics of the Clicking Stream Frog using two mitochondrial markers. This project was based at SANBI and was supervised by Dr. Krystal Tolley (SANBI), Dr. Tony Verboom (UCT) and Dr. Gary Bronner (UCT).
Following the exciting results of the population genetics of the Clicking Stream Frog, I am currently working at SANBI to increase the sample size for this study.
