Plane Tree Centenary
2008 marks the 100th anniversary of the well-known Plane Tree Avenue in the KwaZulu-Natal National Botanical Garden. Planted by Curator Marriott on the 8th November 1908, the avenue is now a majestic landmark in Pietermaritzburg. A series of events is being planned to celebrate this centenary, which coincides with the opening of the new restaurant and entrance facilities
Celebration Weekend
8-11th May 2008
This weekend will see a number of exciting events organized and sponsored by Parklane SPAR. Thursday 8th. 6.30 to 8.30pm. Wine tasting in the gardens.
Tasting glass and snacks provided. Proceeds to Hospice.
Saturday 10th. 11.00 to 12.00 am.
Teddy Bears’ Picnic with lots of fun for the young.
Please donate blankets and jerseys for charity.
Sunday 11th. 11.00 to 12.00am.
Massed Caledonian Pipe Band display in the Avenue.

Concert in the Botanical Gardens. KZN Philharmonic Orchestra
20th July.
The Plane tree tea party organized by the KZN Inland Branch of the Botanical Society.
8th November.
KZN Inland Branch of the Botanical Society will host a formal dinner
in the new restaurant to mark the actual anniversary of the planting of the plane trees in the Avenue.
