Teddy Bear Picnic Concert
27 July

Join us for our annual Teddy Bear Picnic Variety Concert with great family
entertainment and a chance to win prizes by entering your favourite ‘Teddy’ in our exciting Teddy Bear Competition, and remember to bring along a ‘Spare Teddy’ to leave behind for donation to The Teddy Bear Clinic for Abused Children.

Making her debut appearance at the Garden Picnic Concerts, South African
singer Jacqui Moloi with George Hesse trio play good old down-to-earth blues!

The Promenade Ensemble
24 August

Directed by violinist Maria Branco The Promenade Ensemble play the
most delightful light classics, pop tunes and Broadway Hits !

Just Jazz
7 September

A traditional ‘jam session’ featuring some of South Africa’s finest jazz
musicians to keep your feet tapping and your fingers snapping !

DNA Strings
21 September

To close the 2008 Garden Picnic Concert Season, we proudly present
one of South Africa’s most popular award winning bands from Stellenbosch
the fabulous DNA Strings !

Concerts 13:00 to 15:00 with a 30 minute interval.
Entrance fees on concert days from 11:00 are:

R18/adults
R10/students with a valid student card
R5/scholars

Free entry for Botanical Society Members

GARDEN GUIDED WALKS  

Medicinal garden walks

General guided walks as well as guided tours of our Medicinal Garden can be arranged for groups. Please contact Khangela Baloyi for further information or to make arrangements at tel: (012) 843 5194 or fax: (012) 843 5103 or Email: baloyij@sanbi.org .

Normal entry fees apply during office hours on weekdays (Monday to Friday 08:30 – 16:00). On weekends an additional fee will be charged.

Guided walks can be arranged for groups (maximum of 20 people).
Normal entrance fee is payable, plus donations towards Garden Development Fund are welcome.

   INDIGENOUS TREE CULTIVATION
23 August 2008
10:00 – 13:00. Cost: R45/person.
Talk on how to grow indigenous trees will be presented by Ate Berga.

  BONSAI WORKSHOP (Beginner and Intermediate level)
20 September 2008
Time 08:00 – 13:00. Cost: R70/person.

Learn how to create your own bonsai tree and get insight into the art of bonsai. Presented by Louis Nel, a member of the Pretoria Bonsai Club.

  TALK ON MEDICINAL PLANTS
4 October 2008
Cost: R50 per person

Learn how valuable medicinal plants are and how they are used in our modern society. Presented by Marianna van Wyk.

BOTANICAL ART COURSE
23 - 25 October 2008

Presented by renowned botanical artist, Gillian Condy, founder member of the Botanical Artists Association of SA.
