The South African Forest is a cooler forest type that is representative of the forests along the eastern mountains and coastal belt. During November and December the cicada choir renders the forest captivating.

The Garden has all six South African indigenous clivia species. During September, splashes of orange-, red- and yellow-coloured clivias catch the eye in the South African Forest.
