This large section of the Garden contains the arboretum, which is situated to the north of the natural ridge that straddles the Garden. The northern part is much warmer than the rest of the Garden and a big variety of indigenous trees and shrubs grow here.

Acacia sieberiana var. woodii

A winding path takes the visitor through this almost natural, undeveloped area of the Garden.

The National Herbarium, Biodiversity Centre as well as Aloe Lodge are situated here. They form the research hub of the Garden and contain the Head Office of SANBI.
