Art in the Park is an annual art exhibition that runs for 5 -6 days at the KZN National Botanical Garden. This event exposes the public to a rich tapestry of art mediums, ranging from oil paintings, photographs, glassworks, paintings in sand, and selected high end crafters with a variety of pieces to choose from.
A school art competition called ‘through the eye of a child’ where school kids’ creativity is tested through drawing representations of a chosen topic will become a standard feature to the event.
This year’s event is themed : My City, My Heritage, as it will be used as a springboard for the 2024 heritage celebrations for the garden (150 years), Art in the park event (60 years), City of Pietermaritzburg (185 years), the witness newspaper (Media sponsor 178 years) and many other historical milestones.
