On Sunday, 8 March, Kirstenbosch will host two of South Africa’s most exciting acts, Sho Madjozi and Prince Kaybee. Kirstenbosch Summer Sunset Concerts held in association with Old Mutual have proudly showcased the best in local musical talent and excited with this double debut.

Sho Madjozi, has enchanted audiences across the globe with her catchy lyrics and choreography. Limpopo Champions League turned one a few months ago. This album has put me on stages around the globe and I can’t wait to finally perform on Kirstenbosch’s,” said Madjozi.

The pop superstar topped her 2019 VogueWorld 100 honour with a spot on the BBC 1Xtra #HotFor2020 list, and is sure to make an impression on the Kirstenbosch stage. She has also been nominated in the 2020 Kids Choice Awards Favourite African Star category along with previous Kirstenbosch Summer Sunset Concerts performer, Shekhinah. Concert-goers will get to sing along and vosho to hits such as ‘Dumi HiPhone’, ‘Huku’, and of course her viral smash, ‘John Cena’. Kelly Clarkson asked me to perform John Cena on her show and I was speechless when John Cena surprised me on stage,” she recalled.

The second half of the afternoon’s lineup, Prince Kaybee, is widely regarded as house royalty and the local super-producer has been behind some of the biggest hits in SA. His latest hit ‘Uwrongo’ with Shimza and Black Motion features Afro-soul newcomer Ami Faku, and is climbing local charts fast.

He also became an international award-winner this year by bringing home the Best Collaboration award from the 2020 Soundcity MVP Awards held in Nigeria for one of the songs for the summer, ‘Gugulethu’.

Old Mutual Kids Zone

As the main sponsor of Kirstenbosch Summer Sunset Concerts 2019/2020 season; Old Mutual will have an #OldMutualKidsZone from 16h00 – 18h30 at the concert. The Kids Zone will offer an exciting variety of entertainment for kids of all ages and the entry is FREE for concert-goers.

Bring family and friends, pack a picnic with food and refreshments and enjoy an energetic show in the most beautiful garden in Cape Town. Moyo food trucks be serving freshly made burgers, boerie rolls, chipstix, beverages and snacks at the concert.

Concert Tickets: Adults: R220, Youth (age 6 to 21 with ID): R170, Children under 6 years do not require a concert ticket.

Note: Kirstenbosch Summer Sunset Concerts are picnic-style, so bring a blanket and a picnic basket. All concerts take place irrespective of rain, regret no refunds are issued. The Kirstenbosch concert arena is a non-smoking venue, there will be no designated smoking areas available. Smoking is prohibited in all areas of the concert arena (this includes all smoking tobacco, e-cigarettes and vaporizers). The Cape Town Traffic Department will be deploying roadblocks outside Kirstenbosch to test for drinking and driving after each concert, concert-goers are encouraged to drink responsibly and ensure that they have a designated driver.
