Every year South African Society of Artists (SASA) organises a weekend where members are invited to submit up to three artworks for judging by three independent art experts who assign points to each work.
These points are recorded and works that achieve or exceed a predetermined cut-off mark are then eligible to be exhibited at the Annual Exhibition at the Richard Crowie Hall at Kirstenbosch.
The judges decide on the winning entries and select the Best Of in each medium category. They also choose work they deem Highly Commended and Commended.
Points scored at Selection Weekend also contribute to the achieving of Fellowship of the Society.
All work that achieved the required points, are then hung at the Annual Exhibition at Kirstenbosch. This year we open on Tuesday 31 October until Wednesday 15 November.
This year the exhibition will be opened, by Cindie Ah Ling, Principal of the Peter Clarke Art Centre, and one of our judges. The winning and commended works will be displayed with a certificate and the winners presented with certificates and cups.
The Exhibition will be held at the Richard Crowie Hall, Gate 2, Kirstenbosch Gardens, daily from 10h00 – 17h00.
