Natural Solutions for Water Security is a publication which was recently released jointly by the Convention on Biodiversity (CBD) and Ramsar for International Day for Biodiversity. This publication focuses on the critical role that biodiversity plays in the maintenance of both the quality and quantity of water. Water is our most precious natural resource and it is important to be aware that Biodiversity and particularly wetland ecosystems are increasingly understood to be at the core of this nexus. What is remarkable is to see how almost perfectly aligned SANBI's language and arguments for ecological infrastructure are with the language in this publication. On Page 63 one of Working for Wetlands’ case studies is mentioned (although attributed to Working for Water). In 2006 the programme rehabilitated the Manana wetland in Mpumalanga and this has resulted in tangible economic benefits for the poor household of this area.
