The South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) is calling on photographers, filmmakers, researchers and nature enthusiasts to contribute video footage for an upcoming film exploring species extinction and climate change using key messages from the National Biodiversity Assessment 2025.

South Africa is home to extraordinary biodiversity, but many species and ecosystems face increasing pressures from climate change and other threats. Through this film, SANBI aims to raise awareness of these challenges and highlight the importance of understanding and conserving our natural heritage.

We are looking for high-quality video footage that can help bring this story to life. Contributions from nature filmmakers, photographers, scientists, conservation organisations and members of the public are welcome.

What footage are we looking for?

We welcome footage illustrating South Africa’s biodiversity, including wildlife, natural habitats, changing environmental conditions, threats to species and ecosystems, and conservation efforts.
