All Members of The South African Society of Artists can still take advantage of the Members’ 1 Exhibition which starts on the 1 March 2024. Hanging day will be on the morning of 1 March.

This exhibition allows each member of the Society to participate.   Members may submit up to three of their own artworks of their choice, plus 4 portfolio works in the portfolio stand.

This self-selected exhibition is particularly advantageous to new members within the Society, to have the opportunity to show and sell their work, sometimes for the very first time.   It gives them the confidence to submit works to all SASA’s other prestigious exhibitions.

The Exhibition will be held at the Richard Crowie Hall, Gate 2, Kirstenbosch Gardens, daily from 10h00 – 17h00.

Art Portfolio invites you to view the work of 21 Cape artists. The paintings range from Cape landscape and flora images to abstract, figurative, and still life. An exciting and splendid collection to appeal to all viewers!

The Intimate Evening Series, a collaboration between Liberty and leading local promoter Showtime Management are proud to announce “An Intimate Evening with Lalah Hathaway”, a four-concert tour presented by Liberty at Montecasino’s Teatro, Johannesburg on Friday, 19 January and Saturday, 20 January at 8pm and a 6pm concert on Sunday, 21 January 2024.

The Cape Town concert will be at Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden on Saturday, 27 January 2024 at 7pm. A weekend pre-sale for Liberty clients only runs for two dates, Monday, 2 October and Tuesday, 03 October. Public tickets go on sale on Wednesday, 04 October at showtime.co.za and webtickets.co.za.

Lalah Hathaway is a five-time GRAMMY® Award-winning singer/songwriter, producer, and ten-time nominee. Undeniable music royalty and a thirty-year music industry veteran, Lalah’s music transcends genre – from R&B ballads to pop standards and soulful jazz – she has collaborated with today’s top hitmakers, including Pharrell Williams, Kendrick Lamar, Dr. Dre, Anderson Paak, Robert Glasper, Rapsody, Snoop Dogg and Esperanza Spalding. Lalah has also shared the stage with music legends, from Prince to Stevie Wonder to Herbie Hancock.

Lalah Hathaway earned her first career GRAMMY® for 2013 for Best R&B Performance for “Something” with Snarky Puppy. The following three years she earned Best Traditional R&B Performance GRAMMYs for “Jesus Children” (2014), “Little Ghetto Boy” (2015) and “Angel” (2016).

Lalah’s song “Show Me Your Soul,” from the hit documentary ‘Mr. Soul!,’ was featured on the Oscars 2021 shortlist for Best Original Song and in December 2022, the video dropped for Lalah’s new single ‘This Christmas’ – a duet with her late father, Donny Hathaway, made from a previously unreleased version of his classic Christmas anthem.​

“Legacy: Lalah Hathaway sings Donny Hathaway” an orchestral tribute to her father’s work, arranged and conducted by Vince Mendoza, debuted in New York in 2019 at the Lincoln Center’s Out of Doors summer concert series with a sold-out show. It is the first ever show where Lalah has dedicated the entire performance wholly to her father Donny’s repertoire.

The Legacy show also toured in Holland in 2021 with the Metropole Orkest and in Australia and New Zealand in October 2022 with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and New Zealand Symphony Orchestra respectively.​

Lalah Hathaway’s long-awaited next original solo project is coming this year, her first original project since the release of her Grammy-nominated album ‘Honestly’ in 2018.

Carols will be led by a small band and a reduced Choir. Your support of this event enables Rotary International to assist communities across the Western Cape in a wide range of community-based programmes, including youth-leadership development, civic-responsibility and various health programmes, specifically those around cancer-awareness. These are in addition to programmes dedicated to feeding-schemes, numeracy and literacy, early childhood development, elderly support, water-saving and sanitation-awareness. Concert Area Gates open at 6pm: Please ensure you arrive early to secure your place and get comfortable.

Also note that your Carols ticket allows you to enter the gardens at any time on the date on your ticket from 08:00, and that seating on the lawns in the concert area is unreserved.

Carols starts at approximately 7:15pm and are finished by 9:15pm at the very latest.

The event is an open-air event and will continue should it rain. The event is a charity fund raising event of the Rotary Club Kirstenbosch and there is a no refunds policy should it rain. We will do our best to accommodate swopping tickets for another date in our four-day event, however, this can only be done if there is capacity to do so on future days from 15 – 17 December 2023.
