The South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) requires the services of an organized and dedicated person to take ownership of administrative, financial and human resources related duties, advise the Garden Manager in this regard and render support services with regard to functions related general staff enquiries at the Hantam National Botanical Garden.
The successful candidate must be in possession of a diploma or degree in office administration, secretarial or equivalent qualification to NQF 7 enhanced 3 years’ experience in relevant field, of which 1 year must be in office administration, procurement, logistics, projects and event management. A postgraduate degree in administration or equivalent degree at NQF 8 will be an added advantage.
The following competencies are required for the candidate to be successful in this position: Good communication (written and verbal), problem solving skills, organisational and excellent interpersonal relations skills. Knowledge of Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), advanced planning skills and respect for strict adherence to policies, procedures, processes, governance, compliance and confidentiality. Highly proficient in the MS packages. A valid code B driver’s licence with one years’ practical driving experience and willingness to travel.
Key Performance Responsibilities include:
- Provide events and garden administration;
- Assist with project, financial and administration duties;
- Ensure effective management of resources, assets, risk and safety;
- Ensure effective management of human resources, marketing and communication and customer services;
- Marketing and Interpretation – Promote garden, garden website, conduct flower tours, development and design of interpretation signage;
- Customer service – Telephone etiquette, assist clients, cater for staff teas, or VIP guests etc.
