Description
The South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, dedicated, highly professional and responsible person to render effective and efficient secretarial, office management and administrative support services to the Natural Science Collections Facility (NSCF), a long term programme funded by the Department of Science and Technology and hosted by SANBI.
Requirements
The appointment requires a three year National Diploma or Degree in Office Management and Technology/ Public Administration/Business Management, enhanced by at least 2 years’ relevant working experience in secretarial and administration functions, preferably in the public sector.
The candidate should demonstrate good organizational, coordination, record management, writing, minute taking, communication, project management and document management skills. The candidate must be highly proficient in MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Email. The incumbent must have a working knowledge of the procurement financial system and the Public Finance Management Act. A valid (unendorsed) Code B driver’s license and willingness to travel is required.
Key responsibilities
The appointee will be responsible for:
- Manage all administrative duties for the NSCF.
- Minute taking at meetings
- Management of all procurement processes for the NSCF.
- Making travel and accommodation arrangements for the NSCF staff and for participants in various workshops and meetings.
- Organise venues and catering for workshops and meetings for the NSCF and ensure that all equipment required is available for these functions.
- Manage the filing system (electronically and manually) of NSCF related documents.
