Animal Kitchen Attendant

The National Zoological Garden (NZG) is looking for well-qualified, experienced, hard-working, enthusiastic and motivated person to be appointed as an Animal Kitchen Attendant

Amongst others, the successful applicant will be expected to perform the following duties:

• Follow correct procedures in processing, storing and dispatching of all animal food diets on a daily basis
• Prepare all diets in accordance to the diet sheets and preparation schedules
• Perform daily cleaning of work stations, food storage areas, cooling facilities and storage containers
• Maintain the turnaround time and organised flow of bins/dishes through preparation, storage, dispatch and wash areas
• Abide by the animal kitchen routines and schedules within the team
• Complete the preparation and hygiene check lists on a daily basis
• Assist with the packing of food items into storage areas
• Assist with the collection of animal food from outside the zoo

Minimum Requirements:

• Grade 12
• 6 months to 1 year  experience in animal husbandry environment
• Good command of the English Language – Speak, Read & Write
• Code 8 driver’s license will be an added advantage
• Interpersonal skills: ability to work as part of a team
• Ability to work under pressure
