Conservation Gardens and Tourism Division
The South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) requires the services of a hardworking and self- motivated individual to render support on maintenance and development of the Pretoria National Botanical Garden.
The prospective candidate must be in possession of a Grade 10 with a trade test certificate in brick laying or plumbing, enhanced by at least 2–5 years relevant working experience. Knowledge of building maintenance, plumbing and electrical knowledge, workshop tools and machinery will be added advantage. The candidate must have sound interpersonal relations, good spoken and written command of English (read and write) and one other official language. The successful appointees must be able to perform weekend, public holiday, and standby duties as and when required. The candidate must be have a valid Code B drivers’ license with (1) one year’s practical driving experience.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and implement the Garden’s approved infrastructure and maintenance projects and plans (benches, roof gutters, garden signs etc)
- Responsible for Garden assets and stock issued
- Manage project execution for selected projects.
- Provide customer service (including supervisors, team members or visitors)
- Comply with Occupational Health & Safety regulations.
SANBI offers an annual salary of R163 563.00 and additional fringe benefits.
