The South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) requires an efficient and enthusiastic person to render a productive service to all SANBI employees with regards to monitoring of assets through verification, evaluation and reporting and accounting of these transactions according to PFMA and GRAP.

The successful candidate must be in possession of a three-year National Diploma/Degree in Supply Chain Management/Purchasing Management/Logistics or a relevant Finance related tertiary qualification, enhanced with a minimum of five (5) years’ verifiable work experience in the Asset Management of which at least two (2) years must be at a supervisory level.

The candidate should demonstrate good communication and analytical skills, excellent interpersonal relations are a prerequisite. The candidate must be highly proficient in MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel and possess a valid Code B driver’s license and willing to travel.

Key responsibilities will include: 

  • Monitor and review the capturing, allocation and movement of all SANBI assets
  • Oversee and review the monitoring of assets according to relevant policies and procedures
  • Promote correct implementation of sound asset management practices
  • Supervise employees to ensure sound asset management
  • Disposal of assets
  • Record keeping for audit purpose.
