The South African National Biodiversity Institute is looking for a self-motivated individual to manage strategic monitoring, evaluation and reporting processes within SANBI. Implement, and manage, Groen Sebenza project monitoring and evaluation policy including its framework, system and procedure. Coordinate, and consolidate the Groen Sebenza project performance management framework and related reports as prescribed in SANBI policies, national policies, and applicable legislation.

This position requires a degree in Business Management, Public Management, Development Studies, or equivalent qualification with NQF 7. A postgraduate degree in Business Management, Public Management, Development Studies or equivalent qualification at NQF 8 will be an added advantage.  This position also requires 6 years’ experience in relevant field, 3 years of which should be in supervisory position(s).

The following competencies are required for the candidate to be successful in this position: extensive experience in stakeholder engagement and relationship management; advanced experience in the implementation of relevant legislation, policies, procedures, processes, and regulatory framework relevant to programme and project management; excellent project management skills and systemic visualisation of various projects entailing a programme; attention to detail in dealing with budgeting, analysis of scientific data, financial management, procurement, and reporting; advance knowledge for planning and organising, and advanced statistical reports writing skills; in-depth organisational, analytical, and problem solving skills; excellent communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills; excellent computer literacy and experience in the application of software tools including (Ms Word, MS Project, PowerPoint, Excel, Internet and Outlook). The possession of a valid driver’s licence with at least one-year practical driving experience and a willingness to travel is essential.

Key Performance Responsibilities include:

  • Ensure the management of compliance and performance reporting.
  • Assist to deliver on the Groen Sebenza project’s annual performance targets
  • Assist Improve Groen Sebenza project’s performance culture and ability to achieve strategic objectives.
  • Manage the biodiversity agenda, manage risk at Groen Sebenza project, and ensure effective stakeholder relationships.
  • Manage budget and the implementation of large volume projects at strategic level.
  • Manage Human Capital development, and drive change and transformation within Groen Sebenza Project.
