Groen Sebenza Phase II

The South African National Biodiversity Institute is looking for a self-motivated individual to provide support to the overall management of the strategic and flagship programme, Groen Sebenza II of the Biodiversity Education and Public Engagement Directorate in the identified regions to plan, manage, coordinate, and report on all matters related to SANBI’s Groen Sebenza Phase II Programme in their respective regions.

This position requires a degree in Environmental Management, Biodiversity Management or equivalent qualification with NQF 7. A postgraduate degree in Environmental Management, Biodiversity Management or equivalent qualification at NQF 8 will be an added advantage.  This position also requires 6 years’ experience in relevant field, 3 years of which should be in supervisory position(s).

The following competencies are required for the candidate to be successful in this position: extensive experience in stakeholder engagement and relationship management; advanced experience in the implementation of relevant legislation, policies, procedures, processes, and regulatory framework relevant to programme and project management; excellent project management skills and systemic visualisation of various projects entailing a programme; attention to detail in dealing with budgeting, analysis of scientific data, financial management, procurement, and reporting; advance knowledge for planning and organising, and advanced statistical reports writing skills; in-depth organisational, analytical, and problem solving skills; excellent communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills; excellent computer literacy and experience in the application of software tools including (Ms Word, MS Project, PowerPoint, Excel, Internet and Outlook). The possession of a valid driver’s licence with at least one-year practical driving experience and a willingness to travel is essential.

Key performance responsibilities include:

  • Ensure proper programme and project management, implementation, and coordination within the allocated Region
  • Ensure effective and efficient stakeholder management, engagement and relationship management within the allocated Region;
  • Provide monthly management reports on EPWP and other key projects entailing Groen Sebenza Programme II;
  • Manage risk and allocated financial, human resources, ICT equipment, procurement activities within the allocated Region; and
  • Facilitate human capital development and transformation within the allocated Region.
