The South African National Biodiversity Institute’s (SANBI) Finance Division, requires a highly professional person to coordinate, review and undertake the implementation of financial accounting systems and procedures in line with relevant legislation, regulation frameworks and departmental policies and procedures as well as supervision of staff.

The successful candidate must be in possession of a three year tertiary qualification in Accounting, enhanced by 5 years’ relevant working experience, Experience in an auditing environment as well as drafting of financial reports would be advantageous coupled with two years’ supervisory experience.  It is preferable that the successful candidate has knowledge of PFMA and treasury regulations.

The successful candidate must possess the following skills:

Highly skilled in the MS Office suite -, communication (verbal and written) -, interpersonal (working independently and as part of a team) -, analytical and problem solving skills. Furthermore, the candidate must be in possession of a valid (unendorsed) Code B driver’s license with at least one year’s driving experience and be willing to travel nationally.

 Key Responsibilities include:

  • Supervise employees to ensure an effective financial accounting service with regard to revenue and accounts receivable;
  • Monitor adherence to and compliance with the revenue policy, PFMA and treasury regulations;
  • Ensure that unallocated revenue with respect to funds received via the bank are properly and timeously allocated;
  • Ensure that all revenue control accounts are reconciled and/or cleared monthly;
  • Provide Financial reporting support to the Deputy Director: Revenue and Senior Management.
