Call for registration on PYEI Wildlife Economy Young Professionals Database

The Presidential Youth Employment Intervention (PYEI) aims to create employment for youth, women and disabled individuals. As an PYEI implementer, the South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) is seeking motivated and dedicated applicants to register on the Wildlife Economy Young Professionals database to assist with gathering and managing data on wildlife ranching, which will include field work, interviewing landowners and communities and conducting rangeland condition assessments. Training will be provided.

SANBI therefore invite interested individuals who will be available for occasional work between December 2021 and March 2022 to register on this database. Formal qualifications are a prerequisite. Some relevant experience and, in the case of fieldwork, enthusiasm for working outdoors and willingness to travel, are important considerations.

Applicants must be South African citizens or have valid permanent residency permit.

This is an opportunity to gain practical research experience of South Africa’s rich biodiversity, and to work with established scientists and/or post graduate students.

Compensation will be determined by the applicant’s highest qualification. Rates as follows, depending on qualification for a maximum of 8 hours per day:
