Natural Science Collections Facility
(Salary level 04) 6 month contract
The South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) requires the services of an efficient and enthusiastic person with an interest in plants and herbaria to support the National Science Collections Facility by contributing to imaging of herbarium specimens at the Selmar Schonland Herbarium in Grahamstown.
The position requires the candidate to have at least a matric certificate enhanced by a minimum of one year of experience related to digitisation / imaging of herbarium specimens. The incumbent must demonstrate a high level of attention to detail, exceptional accuracy in recording data and care in handling delicate herbarium specimens.
Key responsibilities:
- Imaging of herbarium specimens
- Labelling of images
- Uploading of images onto a central repository
SANBI offers an all-inclusive annual salary of R187 416.00 p a.
