The South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) is looking for a highly motivated individual to ensure SANBI’s employees are remunerated according to the agreements and legislation and also to ensure that the employees’ benefits are managed according to internal policies.
This position requires a degree in Financial Management or equivalent and relevant qualification at NQF 7. A postgraduate degree in Financial Management or equivalent and relevant qualification at NQF 8 will be an added advantage. This position also requires a minimum of 8 years’ relevant experience in the field, 4 years of which should be in first line management position(s).
The following competencies are required for the candidate to be successful in this position: excellent remuneration and benefits management skills; In-depth understanding of relevant legislation, policies, procedures, processes, practices related to payroll and benefits administration and management; advance knowledge of management and administration of payroll systems; extensive knowledge of Public Finance Management Act, Treasury Regulations, Generally Recognised Accounting Practice; attention to detail in dealing with remuneration of employees and benefits management; advance knowledge for planning and organising, and reports writing skills; excellent organisational, analytical, and problem solving skills; excellent communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills; excellent computer literacy and experience in the application of software tools including (Ms Word, MS Project, PowerPoint, Excel, Internet and Outlook).
The possession of a valid driver’s licence with at least one-year practical driving experience and a willingness to travel nationally is essential.
Key performance responsibilities include:
- Manage compliance regarding remuneration and benefits processes;
- Drive communication regarding remuneration and benefits throughout the Institute;
- Manage employee benefits;
- Analyse financial information, manage personnel, and salaries management systems (PERSAL, SAGE and Payspace) and oversee payroll process including migration to new system, and manage risk associated with remuneration and benefits management; and
- Facilitate human capital development, change and transformation within the Payroll unit.
