The South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) is looking for a highly motivated individual to provide strategic leadership in managing and directing SANBI’s national infrastructure programme across all SANBI campuses in the country. The position requires a postgraduate degree in Engineering (Civil or Structural), or equivalent qualification at NQF 8. A postgraduate degree in Engineering (Civil or Structural) or equivalent degree at NQF 9 will be an added advantage. Valid registration as a Professional Construction Project Manager (PrCPM) with the South African Council for the Project and Construction Management Professions (SACPCMP), will be an added advantage.
The successful candidate must have 10 years’ experience in the relevant field, of which 5 years’ should be at middle management level, managing and directing major infrastructural programmes and projects.
The successful candidate must have:
- Excellent analytical, conceptual abilities, report-writing skills and experience in working with spreadsheets (MS Excel);
- Experience in working with the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB)
- Knowledge of the PFMA and National Treasury’s Infrastructure Development Management System (IDMS)
- Knowledge of infrastructure procurement and associated processes
- Experience in construction project management of similar scaled projects
- Experience in labour-intensive construction and managing expanded public works programmes
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of building materials/tools available in the built environment sector
- An understanding of the relevant regulatory processes applicable to the Built Environment sector
- A high level of project, programme, procurement, financial, and human resources management expertise
- A valid driver’s license and a willingness and ability to travel nationally
Key Performance Responsibilities include:
- Ensure effective infrastructure programme coordination and implementation
- Manage the inhouse infrastructure management team
- Improve workplace health, safety and security
- Foster strategic partnerships with relevant stakeholders
- Manage infrastructure budgets
- Ensure human capital development, implement change and transformation
