The South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) is seeking to appoint a highly motivated individual to provide support to the Property Management Unit for the purpose of administering and coordinating events, accommodation and staff for the purpose of generating income for SANBI from its assets.

The successful candidate should demonstrate leadership, customer relations, managing staff and contractors and all logistics for guesthouses, student accommodation, corporate and private functions.

This appointment requires the candidate to be in possession of a relevant 3 year tertiary qualification in Event Management or Tourism, enhanced by a minimum of 3 years’ relevant working experience. The candidate must demonstrate exceptional proficiency in MS Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint and email.

Furthermore the suitable candidate must be in possession of a valid Code B driver’s licence, as well as be willing to travel nationally. The ability to maintain sound interpersonal relations, attention to detail, as well as highly effective verbal and written communication capabilities are essential. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Marketing and customer service initiatives;
  • Event and accommodation coordination (manage logistics, a team, liaise with clients, manage updates on website; monthly reports etc.);
  • Income generating and cost saving initiatives;
  • Collaborate with service providers;
  • Manage finance, administrative and lease functions;
  • Manage frontline (switchboard) and courier service staff.

SANBI offers an annual salary of R299 709.00 and additional fringe benefits.
