The South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) requires the services of hardworking and self-motivated individual to render support on maintenance and development of garden grounds and flowerbeds.

The successful candidate is required to display sound interpersonal skills, the ability to communicate in English (read and write) and any other official languages as well as have two years’ relevant gardening experience.

The successful candidate must be willing to work independently as well as in a team. The nature of this position requires hard and physical labour. The candidate must be able to perform weekend duties on a rotational basis and willing to participate on field collection trips.

Key responsibilities 

  • Garden planning, development and maintenance.
  • Identify and removal of weeds and aliens
  • Responsible for Garden assets and stock issued.
  • Assist in the maintenance of living plant collections
  • Act in a professional and responsible manner towards external and internal customers.
  • Identify possible risks (Fire, theft, pollution, invasive weeds, security problems and dangerous animals) to the Garden.

SANBI offers an annual salary of R96 549.00 and additional fringe benefits.
