The South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) is pleased to announce a call for applications for an internship focused on Community and Stakeholder Engagement within the Adaptation Policy and Resourcing (APR) Division at the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden in Newlands, Cape Town.

APR leads SANBI’s work on utilizing Ecosystem-based Adaptation approaches in South Africa’s response to climate change and securing international climate finance for the implementation of these approaches through different projects and programmes.

Requirements:

Candidates must be enthusiastic and have a keen interest in climate change adaptation and stakeholder engagement. No prior working experience is required but a strong academic record at university will be an advantage. A driving license with at least one year’s driving experience will be an added advantage. This internship is only available to South African citizens and will be awarded in line with national equity targets. The minimum qualification for placement is a post graduate qualification at NQF level 8 (NQF level 9 will be an advantage) in Environmental Science, Politics, Economics Natural Science, Social Science.

Conditions:

  • Applicants must be South African citizens
  • Applicants must not be enrolled for higher degrees for the 2023 academic year
  • Applicants must be in the youth category

Internship monthly stipend values:

  • Honours completed (or equivalent to NQF 8): R9 876
  • Masters completed (or equivalent to NQF 9): R11 385

  • certified copies of academic record/transcript and highest qualification;
  • certified copies of ID and driver’s license;
  • letter of academic reference.

Failure to provide the above will result in applications being disqualified.
