The South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, highly-motivated, dedicated, professional and responsible individual to provide efficient and effective support to the Chief Director: Biosystematics, Research & Collections.

The successful candidate must be in possession of a three year National Diploma or Degree in Office Management and Technology, Business Administration/Management, Public Administration/Management, enhanced by a minimum of 2 - 5 years’ relevant working experience in secretarial and or office management. Proficiency in MS Office, PowerPoint and Excel is very essential. A code 8 driver’s licence is a requirement.

Key responsibilities will include: 

  • Project and Financial Management. This includes establishing and maintaining an expenditure tracker; compiling composite financial and project reports from all cost centres in the Division.
  • Render coordination, liaison, logistical and secretariat support services; make travel and meeting arrangements; and render effective office management.
  • Compliance and procurement processing; replenish office consumables in compliance with applicable prescripts/policies.
  • Compliance to Health and Safety regulations.

In addition to the aforementioned requirements, the candidate must demonstrate the ability to maintain confidentiality, sound interpersonal relations and have an excellent spoken and written command of English as well as a passion in working with a diverse group of people.

SANBI offers an annual salary of R281 418.00. In addition SANBI offers fringe benefits (Salary Level 08).
