SANBI is seeking to appoint a highly motivated individual to provide operational and oversight support for SANBI’s portfolio of approved Adaptation Fund and Green Climate Fund projects on a contract for a period of 5 years as a Project Coordinator.
Description
The South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) is seeking to appoint a highly motivated individual to provide operational and oversight support for SANBI’s portfolio of approved Adaptation Fund and Green Climate Fund projects. The portfolio is currently USD 10 million, and is expected to expand over the next three years.
Requirements
This appointment requires the candidate to be in possession of a post-graduate qualification in development studies/environmental management/public administration/business administration/communications or equivalent which is enhanced by at least 3 years’ relevant working experience. This position also requires experience in grant management, project management, training and development, an understanding of the context of social and economic development in South Africa and a track record building and managing relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. It would advantageous to have experience with supply chain and financial management processes in the public sector.
The successful candidate should have excellent spoken and written command of English, good organisational, coordination, interpersonal and teamwork skills, experience with MS Office and an ability to work well with stakeholders. Possession of a valid Code EB driver's license with at least one year's driving experience is compulsory. This position also requires the candidate to be willing to travel nationally.
Key responsibilities
The appointee will be responsible for:
- Support processes to monitor compliance of approved Adaptation Fund and Green Climate Fund projects;
- Provide operational and management support to approved Adaptation Fund and Green Climate Fund projects;
- Support the operationalization of the Green Climate Fund programme of work;
- Coordinate the communication and learning processes of SANBI’s Climate Funds Unit;
- Provide ad hoc support to SANBI’s Climate Funds Unit as needed.

SANBI offers an all-inclusive annual salary package of R458 325.65.
