The South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) is looking for a self-motivated individual to assist the Senior Artisan in the repair and maintenance of existing infrastructure and to help with development of new infrastructure to approved building standards.
This position requires a Grade 12, or equivalent NQF 4 qualifications. Higher Education Qualification at NQF 5 will be an added advantage. This position also requires 5 years of experience in Artisanship.
The following competencies are required for the candidate to be successful in this position: extensive experience in facilities management, plumbing, and irrigation; in-depth knowledge of plumbing; comprehensive knowledge about buildings, and approval of building standards; extensive knowledge on the irrigation system; advanced knowledge of project management; good knowledge of government human resources, procurement, and financial management policies, procedures, and processes; advanced planning, organizing, and problem solving skills; ability to work under pressure whilst being safety conscious; excellent communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills; excellent computer literacy and experience in the application of software tools including (Ms Word, MS Project, PowerPoint, Excel, Internet and Outlook) will be advantageous. The possession of a valid driver’s license with at least one-year practical driving experience and a willingness to travel is essential.
Key Performance Responsibilities:
- Attend to activities and functions related repair of infrastructure and maintenance;
- Provide control of items in store and to ensure safe working of tools;
- Attend to activities and functions related to Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHASA) compliance; and
- Provide internal and external client services.
