The South African National Biodiversity Institute is looking for a reliable, hardworking HR Generalist to provide guidance and coordination to Human Resources operations, administration and support services to the Groen Sebenza stakeholders and interns in order to ensure excellent HR service delivery.

This position requires an advanced diploma or a degree in Human Resources Management or equivalent qualification at NQF 7 with 4 years of work experience in the relevant field.  Postgraduate qualification in Human Resources Management or equivalent qualification with NQF 8 will be an added advantage.

The following competencies are required for the candidate to be successful in this position: Personnel Salary System (PERSAL) training; extensive knowledge and experience of targeted selection interview method; extensive knowledge and experience in providing business partnering to line managers with regard to the achievement of HR strategic objectives and execution of Human Resources functions effectively and efficiently; comprehensive knowledge and understanding of financial management, project management, supply chain management, corporate governance and risk management policies, procedures, processes, systems, and frameworks will be advantageous; proven ability to work under pressure and with a diverse team, whilst being quality, cost, and safety conscious is essential; advanced planning, organizing, interpersonal, and problem solving, project and event management skills; excellent communication skills (both verbal and written); excellent computer literacy and experience in the application of software tools including (Ms Word, MS Project, PowerPoint, Excel, Internet and Outlook) will be advantageous. The possession of a valid driver’s licence with at least one-year practical driving experience and a willingness to travel is essential.

Key performance responsibilities include:

  • Provide inputs and reports to support the achievement of the HRM Strategy;
  • Coordinate recruitment and selection activities in line with the policy;
  • Coordinate conditions of service and benefits;
  • Assist with performance management system activities;
  • Conduct Job Evaluation; and
  • Coordinate policy/procedure reviews.
