The South African National Biodiversity Institute is looking for a self-motivated individual to provide SANBI’s Adaptation Policy and Resourcing Division (APR) with communications and stakeholder engagement support.
This position requires a degree in Environmental, Natural sciences or equivalent qualification with NQF 7. Postgraduate qualification in Environmental, Natural sciences or equivalent qualification with NQF 8 will be an added advantage. This position also requires 4 years of work experience in relevant field of Climate Change Adaptation or similar work environments.
The successful candidate must have the following competencies:
- An understanding of climate change adaptation and particularly ecosystem-based adaptation;
- Strong verbal and interpersonal skills, strong writing and communication skills, and ability to interact effectively and persuasively with diverse audiences;
- An interest in stakeholder engagement processes and with science communication; and
- Valid driver’s license and one year driving experience.
Key Performance Responsibilities include:
- Support implementation of the APR’s Communication & Knowledge Dissemination Strategy;
- Facilitate connections with relevant climate change youth leadership programmes;
- Support stakeholder and governance processes within the APR; and
- Provide project management, logistic and general support to the APR.
This position is made possible through a grant from the Government of Flanders.
