SANBI, Directorate on Biodiversity Evidence, led by Phetole Manyama, is responsible for the implementation and management of the Early Detection and Rapid Response work at national and regional level.
Regional Coordinators

The Directorate on Biodiversity Evidence (DBE) currently has seven regional coordinators, responsible for the Northern Cape, Western Cape, Eastern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal, Limpopo-North West and Mpumalanga. All detections are channelled through these offices at regional level.
Spotters
Citizen science plays a significant role in our early detection work. Each region with the support of the Spotter network, these are volunteers who have the unique ability to spot new incursions. The support of the spotters encompasses a wide range of activities, from simply observing and reporting on new incursions and species to assisting with data collection.
Rapid Response Contractors

Specially trained teams are deployed to plan and execute control and eradication programmes as managed by the regional co-ordinators.
The National Steering Committee
The committee consists of senior members of SANBI and the other key stakeholders that oversee the programme.
